Going to try new oil

It's all written in german in the back, but if someone wants a translation for it post up. The pic didn't come out for the back. I talked with evorent about this oil and he said thats the only oil he would use. I just changed my oil about 2 weeks ago and the Mobil 1 that was in it for 2500 miles was like water, not the protection I was really looking for.

This stuff is not cheap. It only comes in 2l containers and is right around $25 for 1 container.

First off I have a big racing season coming up. I have quite a few track days at Road America that I want to attend. And of course autocross.

Here is a oil fourm that talks about auto oil, some in great detail.

That is the "good" stuff. Big $$$ though.

Motul rules all.

FWIW-

I havent tested the oil your showing above or any motul product, however I have tested numerous synthetic oils & I have only found 2 that have made more power than 0w/30 mobil1 on an engine dyno.

If your going to be tracking your car, I highly recommend the mobil1 0w/40 over the 0w/30. We measured 0.7 kw down from the 0w/30, but internal components looked much better after durability testing: lifter buckets, cam lobes & bearings. The test's that I am refering to was run with oil going into the engine was @ 120c.

We have run races with debris in the radiator ducts, oil temps would exceed 132c in temps, no appreciable wear was noted during teardown.

It's hard to believe that "off-the-shelf" mobil 1 is sooo good, but it is.

Good Luck with your oil choice.

I don't track my car, but with the Mobil 1 10w30 I'm getting really low oil pressures when I come to a quick stop or even a slow stop my oil press. drops below .50 bar. At idle it is at a steady .75 - 1 bar. I know this is a bit off topic, but should I try 10w40?

I think I'm pretty much through with the M1 line. I'm not looking to get that 1-2 HP that some people think they get from changing oil, thats not it's function. What I am looking for is durability and life. Your are talking about tests that lasted for how long? I would say less than 100mi, then you are doing a complete tear-down of the engine, I wouldn't call that a test. I think you should be changing your testing ways.

Good stuff!

Have you ever tried the AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30?

Give it a try if you are going to track your car.

I can't remeber where it was at. This was about 2 years ago in the Nissan Z days, god I miss that car. I know it was at a car show and they had a booth set-up and the person handing out flyers was answering questions. So I asked him what I heard in the past and that most amsoil products are not synthetic even if they are printed on the label. Well let's just say he blew a gasket and told me that Im an idiot and should have never listened to such a person or read the information. He gave me a flyer and I handed it back to him saying if I am such an idiot, why I must be stupid for not buying your product.

I know it's a stupid reason but if you are trying to sell a product wouldn't you want to give postive reinforcement that your product is superior in X number of ways. The only thing people remeber about a product or company is how they were treated. Now with this guy, I was thinking about doing something naughty to him, I hate cocky people.

You apparently disregarded my 1st & last comment of my original post.

Wrong.... Depending on the type of race, 24 hours of LeMans (~2900 miles +/-300 ) or 800 miles for 500 mile events.

That's how we work & it works for us. Until we start getting our a$$'s handed to us by other manufacturers, than we will do differently. I am only trying to give you some insight to what I have physically seen.

You might want to perform a leak-down test to see how the rings are sealing.....you shouldnt have had "water like oil" after 2500 miles.
