Very productive day :)

today was a big install day for me. installed my hks 280's, aem cam gears, arp head studs and crower valve springs and Ti retainers. everything is installed except one valve spring, one of the keepers fell into the engine bay and was lost. im very please with everything. we also installed the valve springs with nothing but four flat-head screwdrivers. we searched around town for 3 hours looking for a valve spring compressor that was small enough for the job with no luck. i even ran down the snap-on guy and bought the smallest one he had, with no luck. everything is okay, mitsubishi will have a few keepers for me tomorrow and ill have the car running and tuned. ill be posting a vid and some impressions. thanks for reading. justin

I wonder what you will think going from the 264's to 280's?

cams and gears are very simple. i will take tons of pictures before i put the engine back together. i called around to some local shops and even RoadRace and i was quoted an average of 750 for the labor for the valve spring install. so you can guess i happy i was to get the springs in with flathead screwdrivers. i will have pics online tomorrow, and the vid might take a bit. justin

If it helps, there's another thread following david buschur's build up of his EVO RS... He said with 272's he gained 35 WHP with tuning. He installed the 280's and gained another 15 WHP on top of of the 35 just dropping them in. With tuning, David gained another 24 WHP with tuning. So I don't see why you can't see similar gains... Here's the thread if you wanna check it out...
