MBC Question
MBC Question
So The Hallmen Pro has the option so you can change boost while driving, that is if you buy the optional controller. This would make it easyer to turn up and down the boost as you drive, so here is my question.
Say im set boosting at 20psi till redline, and I want to turn it down to say 16psi, do I have to adjust it in every gear? The same goes if I want to turn up the boost back to 20psi for a race....must it be adjusted in all of the gears?
I hope that made sence, im just thinking that if every change in boost must be tweeked in every gear then a EBC might be worth $ for less trouble.

To get the correct boost setting you must be in 4th or 5th with the car under a load at around
2500 to 3000 rpm, then floor the car and set the boost at 5500 rpm . you will allways get some boost spike , but that should be your highest setting. Be careful. I f I see your post correct I hont see a fuel pump or a computer flash ( Turbo trix ) If you just put in this boost controller you will be very lean..... not good..KA BOOM

I dont own one yet, and am planning on doing a flash/tune with my next lump of modds I buy. However with an EBC you can adjust it and not worry about it beeing diffrent in every gear right?
well the car runs very rich from factory, so 20/19 psi until redline should be just fine, since anything over that on 93oct would start knocking and pulling timing therefore making less power. You dont need a reflash, and should do fine.
Well Im a fan of the manual boost controllers.I have had turbo cars for the last 15 years and they seem to be the most reliable. And if you look at the top racers they only use manual
boost controllers. I still would recomend a flash. It gives the proper fuel to timing ratio for the whole rpm band. I run 100 octane fuel and run 26psi with no problem. At only 19 psi the car made 321 hp.

you could actually change the boost while on 3 gear alone.
what I do is just ride the 3rd or 4th gear and boost up until the boost hits the peak, slow down, adjust then boost to peak again.
It's simple as that, don't go through all gears.
However, I think you need to slow down, i don't know if the fuel regulators and ecu adjust on fly with the change in boost while boosting to change a/f ratio..

I have the in-car controller for the Hallman. It was easy to adjust, though drilling through the firewall was a pain. No problems with it so far. Holds 20 psi boost all the way to redline. I did a few runs in first through third to adjust it, and that was pretty close for higher gears. Some final tweaks made it perfect. It's great when it gets cold because I can turn it up/down without opening the hood. A great deal from Al at Dynoflash. Pretty sure he'll ship it out for $150. That's my suggestion...
