Power Trip

Just wondering how high you let your HP get before you buy new pistons and rods?...Is 400 acceptable (At the crank)

400 to the crank isn't even close to the edge. 600 to the crank is more like it.

500whp is fine on stock internals.

Motors have blown up with 350 AWHP. It's all in the tuning and it's not appropriate to simply say 500 AWHP is peachy. However, some motors are holding over 400 AWHP without issue.

Depends so much on the state of tune. The motor id bulit to last that's for sure. I would personally be ok with 400 to 450whp on the stock bottom end nothing more for me. Then again I only plan to obtain 400 to 425whp.

Im planning to take our shop evo to 500whp on the stock shortblock, but no more. This is assuming the tuning is detonation free, as the higher the power level, the quicker your going to have big problems with a little bit of detonation.
