Idling oil pressure
Idling oil pressure
Just got my Defi Oil pressure gauge hooked up and went out for a spin to warm up the engine and check for leaks.
Once I got home and the car was idling in my garage (door open of course), my idle oil pressure read like 15lbs. As soon as I touch the gas pedal it shot up through 40 and cruising around at 3000 RPM's it was 80. I am just curious if everyone else is seeing this really low idling oil pressure, or if something may be wrong with my gauge install.
Thank you in advance.

Im sure it is fine... it is colder than crap in Wisconsin and my readings are normally around 20 or so at idle and almost at 90 at WOT. I still have the balance shafts and using 5/30 weight oil. Im assuming there is a bypass valve set at around 90 or so because it won't go over that. Oil pressure mainly depends on if you still have the balance shafts in and what weight oil you run and the temp outside... The warmer the oil gets, the lower the pressure. Your gauge Im sure is fine.
