LOl good god you guys are getting ripped off for clutch jobs. I got my act clutch installed for 300 from the best shop in houston,tx. If you want a clutchjob, pm me and it'll probably be between 325-350 and that includes all the flywheel resurfacing and what not.

Yeah for the most part. It happened about a 1000 miles after I bought my evo (used). Not much time to look around, I need to get the car back soon.

Sorry of topic , but does anybody have any problem with the tranny after the installed. I had mine replace at 15000 miles just because a shop was offering a special intall for 525. I thought my clutch couldn't handle the extra power so I replace it with an aftermarket one. Now when the car is cold, I have the hardest time shifting into reverse and shifting in first is very notchy. After a while when the car get going then these problem goes away. I did not have this problem prior to the intalled. Help?

Thumbs up

I paid $410 for clutch install and trans and diff service including all fluids!

www.devotuning.com This guy knows the Evo inside and out and has the best labor rates anywhere, he used to work at AMS and opened his own shop. Besides the great prices he is a real nice guy and knows what customer service is all about!

WildRice, what's up with the TSB(?) on the 5th gear synchro? I haven't heard about this, am I missing something? Not that the dealer in my area would even know what a synchro is.

Oh yeah, did mine myself. Well, actually I helped my father-in-law do it, since he's a master certified mechanic. Full shop on base complete with tools and lift. It cost me a total of $75 including redlline fluids. The dealer here wanted $900 just for labor, and they said they were giving me a deal (riiiight). They would only put in a stock clutch; not happening. Went with ACT

Thanks for the input. I tried to get mine done for free by asking the dealer if they could replace it at the same time as the TSB grinding. The told me I would have to duplicate the grinding before they could do that. With my clutch slipping no way I can duplicat it. It looks like I will be paying about $700 just for labor. I am in MD and I did look around the cheapeast I found was 650 I dident go there because I wanted to get the TSB fixed at the same time. If the dealer were to open it up and find a aftermarket clutch in there the might not fix the TSB under warrenty.

The clutch is in and I paid just over $700 for labor. Then I took them for a drive and proved that I wasent fibbing about the TSB grinding, Now I have to bring it back so the can take it apart and fix it under warrenty. I might just wait untill I need a new clutch so I can get it done for free.
