What EVO Clutch to get? HELP HELP HELP

Hey guys,
I should be buying an Evo in the next few months, but i've been hearing so much **** about the gay *** clutch and flywheel. So I was wondering if you guys could give me some good aftermarket clutches. The only one I have heard about that is actually really goos is the RPS carbon, but that ***** is 3 grand.

Thanks

Thought maybe id give some more info, i DO NOT want a very stiff clutch, im not going to be all out racing, if its a clutch that is made for all out racing but is easy enough for daily driving thats fine.

Not many replies, so here it is, I DO NOT have a money issue anymore, I am not going to be draging very often at all, I AM an aggressive driver though, I need a very good performance clutch that will not kill my left leg, the closer to stock pressure the better, but I will be getting my car up to maybe 350 or 400whp
Rps carbon carbon?
Exedy Twin?
RRE X?
ACT Street?
Cusco Twin?
HKS Twin?
What about Exedy Twin Carbon?????
I really need your guy's opinions!@!!!!!!

RPS carbon and twin carbon plate is good but that's 2 to 3 grand just on parts.

I have ACT and I think it's one of the better, affordable clutch out there.

Which ACT clutch do you have?
Has anyone heard of the Centerforce Dual Friction Carbon Clutch?
I heard some about that in my Turbo mag.

Evo 9 will have the same clutch. Trust me.

As for replacement clutchs - I've had an Exedy Twin for quite some time (25K) with no problems. I just pulled it out to test our Stage 1 against my car (12.2 1/4 mile, 1.6 60' times) and so far so good.

The Stage 1 is an excellent clutch and price is comparable to many other manufactures on the market.

However, working for Exedy I am a tad biased.

Even if it did, its still gonna have a bigger turbo etc, i could buy a new clutch for the 9, but i dont want to wait a year to get it so right now ill stick to what good clutch to get.

clutches

Check out the latest issue of Turbo magazine. there is a short article about Evo clutches and why they go bad. Basically, the reason the stock one fails is the clutch material doesn't stand up to heat well, and the flywheel doesn't dissapate heat well either. This leads to clutch failure. they had a list of 6 or so aftermarket clutches with descriptions.

good luck

If you want lots of power more than 350whp and you plan to track your car a lot I would stay away from ACT

I have 80K on my 03 EVO VIII still running the stock clutch and flywheel. I'm pretty sure my clutch isn't gay! You just need to think about what you are going to do with the car. If you are going to DRAG look for a different car or get a stronger clutch, this is a rally car!
