"if " any problems you know he is a senior tech at his store and he is also an advisor for central florida mitsu, so dont worry be happy if you wanna listen to these people then go ahead and get the diaqueen, but i doubt it will make a difference since in the us we are using what he put in ur car and remember elies car has it and what problems have you seen lately?
Lately my shop has been littered with burnt up ring & pinions from people putting the wrong oil in the transfer case. In the owners manual that comes with every EVO there is a section on what oil Mitsubishi recommends to be used in the transfer case. Not only that, but there are several posts on this forum related to this topic that can be found through a search. Personally I would still option for the Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil instead of risking a potential problem further down the road.

This oil came directly from the dealer. And the tech told me its what they are using on the rear diff and tc. I just called the service manager and he told me as long as it has the same specification as the diaqueen it should not be a problem. The oil he used was 75-85 SAE Hypoid gear oil for limited slip and differentials, with GL-5-4-3 rating. He said it should not be a problem. I already told the tech he is responsible if the tc case goes.

EVIL_EVO_VIII, you have the wrong oil in your t-case. For the t-case, the shop manual calls out for SAE 90 GL-5 hypoid gear oil only! The oil you have is too thin. This is yet another case of a mitsu tech being WRONG!

What about the rear diff fluids? That same one was put in the rear diff, should i change it also or is it going to be a problem?

What is the Mitsu part number for the correct TC fluid? Anyone know? This way people could call up the dealer and ask if they carry the correct fluid.

I am a bit worried about my TC. I had the fluids changed around 18000 miles and I am at 23000 now and I have a wining sound. I have had it for some time now but I don't think it is effecting anything. I don't trust my dealership AT ALL! I hear that some noise is normal but what is to much?

Also, when you bring a car in for service at a dealership is the part numbers for the products used on your car stored in the computer? Is it possible for them to look up what they have put into the car for fluids?

Sorry for the questions...not trying to jack the thread or anything, THANKS.

A mitsu tech , wrong , NEVER . But when you bring back your car with a fu*ked up TC you bet it will be because of ''abuse'' or ''racing'' and it WILL NOT BE THERE FAULT .

You might be okay for the rear diff, but I'd change it to Diaqueen just to be safe. Here's the EVO fluid requirements listed in the shop manual.

Even if you know the mitsu tech f*cked things, getting them to own up to it is another story. I'd rather not have to deal w/ fighting that sh*t.

The p/n for the stock t-case fluid is 3775610. It can be found here:

if it blows, how could you find out if the oil was wrong?

is there a way to diagnose the oil after the tc went? My TC started to make a noise after the clutch install, i mean immeditately.

Mitsu dealer installed it, with mitsu oils but i don't have a clue.

At least you have oil in your TC. They delivered my car to me with NO FLUID in the TC, and it ran ok for about 2000 miles, then the car locked in "4-Low" hehehe.... at least I was one of the "lucky" ones that was actually able to get something warrantied.

my t-case howls when im slowing the car down and letting off the clutch. i have about 9000 miles on the car. any idea if this is a sign of things to come?

ive never launched or abused the car, so i dont know why its starting to howl. would the dealership replace it or does something catastrophic have to happen first?

SpoolingEVOx,

Your car is doing exactly what mine did before my t-case went belly up. If you put your car in neutral while coasting to a stop and it makes a wa wa wa wa sound that gets quieter as you go slower, you t-case is done.

even at the mitsu dealer I found out they have no idea what to put in you have to watch them. You must use diaqueen.
