well if you're referring to an S-AFC or something, that only controls air/fuel. A piggyback computer like an Xede or UTEC control boost, timing, air fuel, etc. A flash does all this as well, except it reprograms your ecu in your car, its all software. good stuff

oh and its cheaper, thats the point. you can mail in your ecu to get flashed for like 300-400 bucks. i happen to be getting the flash custom tuned on a dyno before its actually flashed (reprogrammed).

no no s-afc is basic tuner **** in talkin a apexi fc with commander like a full tuning ecu. so basically a flash is like a cheaper way without gettin a new ecu? but u have to do it everytime u get new mods?

Basically, but you have to time it right...Like i got all the mods i have so far and havent tuned yet but i really badly need to tune. After i do get the flash, i'm not gonna mod for power for a while. Its really preference and most places will give you a break on a retune if you're a returning customer, i know Vishnu does.

Stock is a little above 7500 before fuel cut. You can try it out yourself to see. You can also get it tuned to go beyond 7500.

Stand alone is good, but if the weather changes radically, you have to retune it to accomodate the weather, which is kinda pain in the neck, plus it doesn't have the safety measures that stock ECU has for the street. I would use a stand alone anytime on the tracks, but on the streets, reflash is my best friend.

I've had a stand alone ECU stop working on me while I was driving my WRX before, it was a burnt out rom chip on the board, after that, I kinda stay away from them.
