Question about boost gauge reading?

I just installed Defi Boost D-Gauge in my car. I have full turbo-back exhaust no cat and Helix Intake. I am idling at -19~-20 psi and my boost taps around 22~24 psi and holds it 18~20 psi. Is this normal?

Sounds a little too high to me unless you have mods to support it.

Idling at 19-20psi? errr...

ahh...I had the line wrapping before that "-" in the idle section. Sounds about right with the mods probably. And I doubt your idling at -20psi, it's inHg I believe in the negative section.

yeah I mean in the negative side 19-20 whatever you call it. I just went out and checked again it taps 22 psi and holds 19~18 psi. I am about to put Hallman RX Pro and I want to set the MBC to 21 psi but Im already tap 22 so do I not install my hallman or do you read the boost its holding?????

Personally, I think that it sounds pretty good for the mods. One problem you might be seeing is that the stock BOV (not sure about the MR as I have an 03) is only good to about 21 psi. So if you're hitting 22 (and plan on being in that range), I'd think about a new recirc/BOV as well as the MBC. I'm definitely not a pro in this area, but from what I've read you're not in a "scary" place by any stretch of the imagination.

I would say that 22psi is a bit high if not properly tuned to match, but it's not "BAD" high. And getting a little taper in the high RPMs isn't abnormal, but others can probably chime in here with more information.

I have an 05 evo. When setting an MBC do you set it psi to where it taps or where it hold. For example I am taping 22 for a quick moment and hold at 18~19 psi so when I put MBC tommorow do I raise it so it holds 21 or down my boost so its taps 21. I want to set it 21 psi.

I'd set max boost at 21, I'm planning on doing that quite soon myself. Unless I get a tune for more (and I will be getting a tune once I add a couple more mods), I think it's safe and I expect to get a slight taper.

Set your MBC to hold 21psi.
It will spike (tap) a couple of lbs. higher for a second.
