Higher Elevation and Boost Levels...Flash Related

ok so I live in the Pocono MOUNTAINS lol
and up here elevations range anywhere from 1100ft - 2200ft above sea level
on my Defi BF Amber Boost Gauge(best gauge evAr!!!) it reads 1.6bar full boost
I have a STOCK 05 GSR

ok now for the questions:

is the car making more boost because of the higher elevation or because the 05's are better? (which would also expalin why they dyno a bit higher )

are the 05's making more boost pressure than the 03/04's?

I want to go and raise my boost up 1 or 2psi via MBC and get a custom tuned flash...probally from TurboTrix
I believe theyre at sea level or close to it and Im all the way UP here
will there be any problems??? Im thinking no because the MBC will hold the boost at whatever I set it at regardless of the elevation???

oh and whats 1.6bar in PSI?

TIA

I would say most gauges are based on the ratio of outside pressure and your turbos pressure.

P=Po+(density)gh

Im wondering.... the density of air is different in higher elevations but the actual elevation is used in working the formula out. I will have to come back to you or most likely someone will answer the question.

Only logical explanation would be that your gauge is off. Technically from reviewing the equation you should be seeing less boost. estimation would be

Po=98kPa
P1=RT/v

ehhh it tapers down to 16 or 17psi right after
I could of swore that at higher elevations a turbo makes more boost since the air is denser???

the answer to one of your questions, yes, the 05 makes more power than the 03-04 stock, part of that is because the flapper and the housing of the turbo was redesigned on the 05's.

You should not see a 1.6 bars unless you have a turboback or an air filter. I have a 05 MR and I live in 3100feet altitute and you loose boost for the altitude.

ok just went out
gauge barely touches 1.5bar and tapers down like its supposed to
my peak boost(hit the peak button on my link unit was 1.6)
but it doesnt go near 1.6 now
only when I first installed the gauge so it might of been a boost spike who knows
so I think im about .5-1psi off
ehh not bad
ayyyyy silly gauges

The first thing is to verify it's off. I'd go in and get a vac reading and see if the gauge is off, or if you're just seeing high boost for some reason. I'd guess that Defi would replace it if it was defective and you could demonstrate it.

Not good man I'd ask your friend to see if he can get it replaced. You might have issues with the actual location of your boost line.
