MR Transmission and T-case oil
Well I have read quite a bit and did many searches. There are plenty of opinions on what to use for the 5 speed, but not much on the 6 speed transmission. So, should I use the Diaqueen Super Multi Gear Oil, Part # MZ313376 or the Syncromesh Gl-4 oil (not synthetic). Transfer case and rear differential use Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil, GL-5 oil in 90 weight or what. Someone please clarify who actually has an MR and is using what they recommend.
Thanks
Thanks

You can use syncromesh on the tranny, but would highty recomend the Diaqueen for the TC and rear diff.
I've got the Pennzoil syncromesh in the MR and it shifts nice. Any time it won't shift it is driver error after the new fluid, ss line, restrictor removal.
The syncromesh I would change every 7500-10K though, or every 2nd or 3rd oil change. It's cheap so change it often as its not synthetic. You may even opt to do 1.3 qt of syncromesh & 1qt BG syncroshift for a little added wear protection. Don't try to jam in 3.0qts like the 5sp., it only takes 2.3L FYI. Personally I hate crappy shifting so I use 100% syncromesh.

Thanks for the replys, so syncromesh is ok for MR trannys. I read in a thread that we should be using the oem Diaqueen. What amount for each is needed?

God this subject is so annoying. Everytime I think one way, my mind gets changed. I was just going to do OEM, but the trans fluid is like $75.00 per qt, which 2.3 qts. is needed. I am definately using OEM for the TC and rear diff. So back to syncromesh, how long have you used it in the MR tranny? Does anyone know of a cheaper place to get OEM fluid, I tried mitsubishiparts.net already.

I beleive it works in the short term, just concerned over the long haul. How long have you been using it in your trans? I agree it is a hell of alot cheaper than the OEM. It is $35 for 3 quarts. Well I appreciate you getting back with that little bit of info to help my decision.
Mr. MR, you don't necessarily have to get OEM for the tranny fluid. Just get something that meets the factory viscosity requirements and is GL4. I know the 5-speeds can take either 75W90 or 75W85. I'm not sure about the 6-spd. I would imagine it's the same.
