Check out the case study in the Dynoflash forum about the Helix silencer.

In a nutshell, the Helix silencer stole about 50, yes FIFTY hp! I was pretty surprised. I made ~250 with the silencer. The a/f probe thingy was in there too, so it may have choked it a little more, but still a substantial loss.

With no silencer it jumped to 300 HP, pulling about 5% fuel at the very top on the SAFCII. After base flash it went to ~310, then with fine tuning (and upping boost from ~18 to ~21) it jumped to the final numbers. I believe we dialed the boost back slightly, so I probably "only" have about 320 WHP right now, but I'm still happy.

Great cams. Props and thanks again to DSG, Gruppe-S, and Al/Dynoflash.

I'd use Dynamat rather than bedliner, or maybe just get the GSR trunk liner parts as a start.

I got my cat from martelbrothers.com, but my Buschur exhaust is a slip fit so I just had it welded into an extra Buschur test pipe.

Hi,

Regarding the two questions, I do not have a resonator with the Helix CB. I did get a p0420 cat cel after I installed the Helix silencer, but it went away and didn't return. Right now I don't have the silencer in. No misfire cels.

Hey Q. Yeah, I'll have to get to the track and see what it can do, but I want to save a little more so I can get a clutch if I break it, lol. Hoping for mid 12's or so.

Take care,

Sorry to hijack your thread, but is it really necessary to spend $300 ona high-flow cat? What does the RT cat have over a catco or a magnaflow cat? I dont know, i cant justify spending $300 on a cat!

I don't know how much the Evo direct fit kit is, but I paid about $220 for mine.

I was told RT cats are noticeably better than others including magnaflow that I have. If you must have cat than RT...said my tuner...

One thing about the Random 3" is that I do get check engine lights about every 200 miles. I carry a pocketlogger in the car, so I just reset it when it happens, but if someone were the sort of person that is bothered by that sort of thing. I got no CELs with the Buschur high flow cat.

So, what would happend if you did'nt reset?

I had p0300 after cam install but went away next day.

I think Buschur uses magnaflow cats.

Noticed you're in NOVA, we should meet up a local group meet.

where did you get your RT cat?

BUSCHUR USES CATCO CATS WITH SOME MODIFICATIONS.

Hi,

I got another p0420 cel last night, driving very slowly with my wife and daughter in the car from my house to my mother's house (30 minute drive).

I think if I'm not driving hard for a long time, the exhaust gases don't pass by the secondary o2 fast enough and I get the cel. I have one spark plug anti fouler threaded with the secondary o2 per the mechanical cel fix. It hadn't gone off for a few weeks. I may try adding a second spark plug antifouler to see if that gets rid of it.

For me, the p0420 goes away after a day or two. It doesn't affect perf AFAIK, it's just a "soft" warning. I usually reset the ecu by pulling the two fuses under the hood. Other CELs do affect performance, and I'm not sure about that misfire code or what happens if you don't reset it. I will def clear codes before I try to get an inspection sticker, heh.

Take care,

I don't know what would happen if I didn't reset. It definitely will last at least a few days. I've never given it longer than that.

Buschur uses Catco cats. I had one and sold it.

As far as a meet, definitely. I've been getting out to more of the meets this year. Chic-fil-a at Dulles twice now and I was at the AMS BBQ.

I got the Random at martelbrothers.com and had it welded into a Buschur test pipe. The welding was no big deal for me because I had to have a wideband bung welded in in front of the cat anyway.

BTW, I ought to try putting my rear O2 sensor in my offroad Buschur O2 bung. That could solve my CEL problems. Maybe I'll do that today if I get a chance.

I do notice that the CEL problem is more pronounced when I drive the car real easy. I got it yesterday after about 15-20 miles of real easy driving in the rain.

I got SES lghts with my RandomTech. I got it from nino's with the flanges already on it. I bought a Buschur o2 sim and wired that in and everything was fine. I put the test pipe in and kept the o2 sim just in case.
The Randomtech cat is pretty see-through. I don't know about the magnaflow or catco but I chuckled when I looked through the RT after I removed it. I couldn't believe it was doing very much

nice numbers man...

i have the same set up as CT9A... i recommend it to anyone that wants the most power and sound when you want it, and the quietest when you want it... def worth the money which it actually is a lil' cheaper than a TBE, plus keeps the fuzz at bay ... i'll try to get my vid up (VHS, *sigh*)...
