I just installed a Profec B spec II. I have an external wastegate and followed the installation instructions fully.

I make the same amount of boost with the boost controller off, or with any settings in low or high. This leads me to think that the solenoid is non-functional. Is there any way to test the solenoid? Are replacement ones available?

Should there be any voltage to the solenoid off boost? (i.e. is there any way for me to troubleshoot the electronics part of the system as well?)

You could test the solenoid by applying 12 volts to the solenoid plug and seeing if it clicks. If it doesn't , I would say there is your problem.
As far as testing the system hook up a test light so that you can see it. And then drive it. If there is no light under boost then I would suspect the electronics. Double check your vac/boost lines and make sure they are correct.

 

How is this wastegate setup? Dump tube?

What ports are you using on the solenoid and is the unused one open or blocked off?

 

You sure its 12v that the solenoid would want to see? I don't want to go throwing random (potentially too high) voltages to electronic equipment.

wastegate has a big dump tube back into the 3" exhaust.

the spare port on the solenoid is not blocked.



Everything works fine with a MBC. Definately a problem with *this* EBC. wastegate plumbing is all correct.
