Got my new replacement bracket yesterday and reinstalled it today. Clearances were a little tight like before, but everything barely cleared with a little tweaking. The new bracket looks just like the pictures that Ray posted before; it's got two more reinforcement plates welded on and is painted black. I had forgotten how much smoother the damper makes high RPM shifts. Here are some pictures:

Got mine also. It didn't fit. The tolerances were way too tight. I ended up taking apart the damper and cutting down some of the rubber and also removing one of the spacers on the end. It is in there very tight. No movement at all. It also hits the hose right next to the cam cover. I am hoping it doesn't wear through the hose over time. I'll keep an eye on it.

By the way, the new bracket feels very solid! I doubt this one will break. I watched the engine with the hood up as I started the car. No movement at all. Has anyone noticed that there diffs clunk more? I hear the diffs clunking every time I back up. It sounds like someone hitting the bell housing with a small hammer. Used to hear this once in a while, now it is all the time.

Yeah, if you look at the first picture I removed the nut that was on the end closest to the front of the car. This reduced the length of the damper by 1 cm or so, enough to make it fit. That hose that runs right above the new bracket does barely touch one of the new reinforced areas, but the bracket for the hose could probably be bent to solve that. Yep, my car has always made that clunk when backing up, especially if it's the first time driving the car for the day.

If you move your ac hose mount to the outboard hole and flip it over, all of the clearance problems go away. Doing this will lower the hard pipe away from the shock tower mount and change the angle to the ac pump so it has much more clearance at the motor mount bracket. It's almost like planned for this mod in early development.

The only problem with the fixed one is that it now puts the unit very close to your cam gears so there is a very good chance of them touching if you have aftermarket cam gears... It's like 1-2 mm away from the nut/bolts... bites...

Isn't that why you have a cover over them?

I guess you don't know exactly how small 1-2 mm is... lets just say the cover has no chance of fitting...

Oh, wow misread your original post. I don't think it's suppose to fit like that. You should be ablt to use your stock gear cover with it.
