Engine Build... need General Info
Hey,
Well I'm probably going to be doing an engine build since my #4 piston is dead and i'll be taking the block apart anyway, i'll probably be doing a build of some sort.
I've done some searches and have not found to much information on this subject. Just need some advise/info about engine builds in general.
All help is appreciated.
I'm Probably going to be doing forged Rods and Pistons probably CP Pistons and Eagle rods. Just trying to find some more information on this subject, Pruven is doing the work so I'm very confident everything will go well just looking for some info. Trying to do my homework on this subject, thats all.
thanks guys.

First your in good hands with Pruven.
How much are the CP pistons? Aren't they expensive?
Buschur has good JE pistons.
Eagle rods will do and really all that's necessary.
Get the mitsubishi balance shaft eliminator kit and get rid of the balance shafts.
Make sure the crank is in balance and the rods and pistons are all within weight like they should be. Cylinder bore/hone all depends on the condition of the cylinders. If they are in good shape just get a hone job to match the ring type going in.
Replace the oil pump and check the new one to make sure it has the right clearances. This has been a past Mitsu weakness so it's worth doing.
Check the deck for flatness, if it's good then leave it alone. You only have so much to work with for milling the deck and head. With the head being aluminum it will need at least.002 taken off. The block being iron shouldn't need it. Cometic head gaskets are good strong gaskets. If you go that route you have to make sure deck and head have a very smooth finish or it will leak. Done properly though it will out last a Mitsu gasket. Everyone likes the mitsu and after seeing it I am not impressed with the seal material on the gasket.
Replace belt tensioner and belt regardless. Tensioners have a tight service limit and it's not even worth it for $80 cause if it's bad it will destroy everything you just did. Use mitsu belt not the heavy duty belt. Not necessary and the lack of give all together is tougher on everything it runs on.
Depending on what you want from it and how much money you have will determine what you do to the head. IF you want to go with 1mm over valves the Ferreas will cost you 300.
If you have cams, buy springs and retainers. Again if your going with the valves you want at least a port clean up and port match. Prices on port jobs varies by who does it. Give me a couple weeks and I will be posting pictures of my head.
You have a lot to buy. If you need a clutch, do it now.
What mods do you currently have and what are you looking for?
