Just wanted to post up that I installed my cams today. The process was rather easy and straight forward. The exhaust cam is a little tricky due to the cam angle sensor but other than it was really easy. I had a copy of the EVO manual on disk so I referred to that when needed We also did the ARP studs today and that was also really easy and straight forward. Total install time on both the cams and the studs were about 3-3.5 hours.
On the cams the best way to do it is to get that tensioner tool. I did that and zip tied the gears very similiar to the write up from evomoto.com and it couldnt of been easier. As for the studs I opted to do a 3 step torque sequence (50-75-85). I know ARP says to do it at 70 but after hearing of people having theirs back off and talking to a few people (Zeus the main one) I chose to torque them to 85.
Car is equipped with the Buschur Stage 3 package and am currently running on the stage 1 flash. I have stock cam gears and the idle is rather lopey but I havenet experienced any stalling issues yet. The car is running pig rich, I will be sending out my ECU to AL at dynoflash so he can work some magic and lean the car out. At idle the car only pulls abut 15 in hg as it use to pull a strong 18-20 in hg at idle. My guess is because of the rough idle the motor is having to work harder to keep the car running. If anyone has any questions on the install please ask away. I will post up how the car feels next week after I get the ECU back

Hey man, congrats on the new cams. Ive got my GSC 272s sitting in my room just begging to be installed. I was just wondering if u have ever done a cam installed before? I really wanna do my cams myself, but im afraid that ill mess it up and therefore blow up my engine. I was originally gonna have a local DSM shop install all my mods for me, but seeing all these people do it themselves has changed my mind. I have a buddy who is a tech at a Mercedes Benz dealership who could help me out, but hes a little hesitant. I guess im just wondering how hard was the install? Thanks!

Ive done several cam installs/motor swaps on hondas. This was my first time going inside a Mitsu motor and honestly it was really easy. My advice would be to get a manual of the car (there is someone selling them on here for like 5 bucks shipped), and use the evomoto.com tutorial. It is really straight forward and if you have a mechanic to help you it will be a breeze. Save yourself a few hundred bucks and do it yourself. Just make sure you purchase a tensioning tool. Goodluck

I am running on stock cam gears. I think a few horsepower can be picked up from cam gears and a much better idle. With my previous car I had a cam gear slip at 8700 RPMS and it resulted in 8 bent exhaust valves. I think after that experience im going to stay with the stock cam gears.

Evo moto's cam install instructions are perfect..Used them and cam was pretty easy to do,just double check everything you do and dont drop the little rocker arms into the motor
I purchased a tensioning tool and had it break on me. I know go the 'long' route and pull off all the pullies. This gets me to the lower timing belt cover so I can pull the tensioner off. Its easier for me that way

I purchased mine from octtools.com. Scroll down to popular products catalog and click on that. Type in belt tensioner in the search box. When you scroll down you will see a pic of it. I believe the part number is 6001 but there is also anonther part number. I have the part number but its at my other house (in the middle of moving). I had to call a 800 number to place my order.
When using the tool you are suppose to turn it real slow to prevent it from snapping. Also to help out i dipped the threads from the tensioning tool in some oil to help it go in easier. It went in really easy for me, I experienced no issues at all. Just turn it slowly when you are tightening it.
