Tial wastegate and leaded fuel?

On my tial wastegate it specifically states that the unit is not designed to handle leaded fuel. Has anyone got any more specific info on this? Tuners, it'd be nice to hear about your experiences as well.

Well, first off, I hope you're not running leaded fuel in your car. Second, at your basic pump station, I don't even think you can get leaded fuel anymore. If my mind serves me correct, leaded fuel leaves alot of deposits and crap when it's burned, thus it will clog todays catalysts and other exhaust parts.. Not sure if that helps... but I tried..

Ummm I don't have a cat, or 02 sensors... so leaded fuel is OK for me to run

I ran about 20 tanks of leaded fuel my 2G AWD with a Tial 38mm with no problems. The tag in the box said not to run leaded fuel but I didn't notice any adverse effects. If you were to run race gas all the time, it might eventually take it's toll due to lead deposits. I had roughly 20K miles on it when I sold the car.

You can send the wastegate into Tial and they can replace the valve with a stainless one that is race gas compliant. It cost me only about $40 or so to do it a few years ago.

My 40mm tial I used on my Galant VR-4 didn't have any warning on it, and I think it was stainless, so mike's solution is probably the way to go for peace of mind.

You should have stated that in the first place, and you'd have avoided a useless post.

you shouldn't see any adverse effects running race gas from time to time, but remember, the manufacturer says not to do it, so eventually it'll break and you'll be buying a new wastegate.

I am pretty sure anyone running an external WG and asking about leaded fuel knows not to run the race gas with a CAT and the damage it can do to the O2 sensor over time..... not sure why you think he has to explicitly state he is running catless before you will answer his question... but to each his own!

I have ran 20K miles of 110 LEADED thru my evo, and have no cat, but do have o2 sensors stock ones and one on the AEM UEGO guage, no problems yet, I just got my O2 sensor checked by the mitshu mech. all is clear ( so far) I know, you play/you pay, but right now its all play! 25 lbs of boost with no taper.
