Buschur Stage 4, What should be my next step?
Buschur Stage 4, What should be my next step?
as the thread says, i currently have a stage 4 set up with 264 cams and s-afc. i am looking for the ultimate street set up using 91 octane and alky. here are some options i have thought about:
1) Br500BB, Stage 3 head, custom dynoflash
2) same as above with a 2.3 stroker kit
3) 2.3 stroker w/ gt35r and mods above
4) 20G turbo w/ mods above
also would it be worth upgrading my 264 cams to either 272 or 280? please provide any helpful info or experiences. thank you!

I have no personal experience with these mods but it sounds like you're on the right track. When I read the Thread title the first thing I thought of was a bigger turbo. I would say you can live with the 264's till you go with the stroker kit. At that piont I would go for the 272's or 280's.
Good Luck

I've never heard of a sheet metal intake with just a flash. Not sure that that's going to work without a standalone.
Obviously the 2.3 stroker is going to make any package better, but that's $$$$.
I'm surprised that you are making 350 whp on 91 octane with your setup. Is that just with the SAFC for engine management? What sort of AFR/boost are you running. I haven't dynoed my car, but I'm just hoping for 330 or so.
As far as optimal "street" setup, do you want fast acceleration from stoplight to stoplight without launching, or do you want good power from a 3K+ rpm roll?
im actually considering the AEM EMS as well but not sure if its the right set up for me. i dont have any ems tuning knowledge and would probably let someone like AL tune it once and thats it, which is another question, if i did this would it be worth purchasing the AEM EMS and having it tuned once?
all im using right now is the S-AFC, not sure what the afr is but im running 23lbs of boost if that helps. this was done on a awd dyno in Denver,Co.
im looking for something that can help me handle v8 cars like vettes, supercharged mustangs etc. i guess overall powerband would be best but i think the 3k to redline would be very important. the launch i guess could take care of the rest.
the only reason im thinking about staying away from the gt35r is that without race gas, i couldnt use the potential of the turbo unless you guys think otherwise. this brings me to my main decision which is get the br500bb or wait until the 20g upgrade. what kind of power would these kits produce with my goals? which one would be better? how does the br500bb perform on the stock 2.0l?

I would do 2 0r 3 above. Even with alcohol injection you will not be able to run the same boost as race gas using 91 octane so I think option 2 would probably be best. The BR 500BB (GT 30R) would blow the 20G out of the water.... but is over twice the price. If money isn't an issue go with the BR 500BB.
As for the cams, it depends on if Dave/Al have come up with a good flash that lets the 280's idle well. You defenitly can go with the 272's, just not sure about the 280's. If you are going with a "set it and forget it" setup don't bother with the expense of the AEM EMS.... go with the flash.

TwstDevo, according to MAC autosports, elevation doesn't like duration. So going to 272's isn't going to give you more power up here. You might lose power. MAC is seeing more power out of cars with 264's up here. This is what they told me and I'm running 264/272's. They told me I would see alittle more power out of straight 264's. Here's a link to my last run.

The blue is before cams and red is after cams. Keep in mind, I'm also running a high flow cat. That is the reason my numbers aren't as high. I went in one time and dyno'd(this is before the cams) without the cat and it netted me 13awhp/tq extra. After the cams, you can see there is a lot more back pressure and causing my Buschur exhaust to leak at the front of the cat. I gotta get new clamps.
Oh, what should you do next? Alky injection!!!!!!!!!! You'll see some seriouse power out of it. You might be closer to 380-390awhp/tq.
