thanks again for the info guys, i've learned a few useful things

So just to confirm if I'm understanding a concept correctly: boost spikes are bad and for an otherwise stock Evo, I should set my boost controller so that 20-21 psi is what I read on a spike. This will put the boost I am able to hold probably around ~18 psi.

The problem I'm having with this concept is that an Evo m member recently posted his findings on a Defi D series Guage on a bone stock 05 Evo and he was hitting 21 psi and going down to 18 near redline. I realize there are many variables at play, but on the whole it seems my MBC isn't doing squat?!

And another thing is, is that if I'm knocking (I haven't heard or felt anything), then wouldn't the ECU just pull timing to have the car run safely?

A quick spike to 22-23 PSI isn't gonna hurt your engine...I run at 20.5-21 PSI on 93...no problems and good power...MBC will eliminate the boost taper...holds solid boost all the way up.
