How to get rid of knock???

I've got a code 325 (knock sensor) How do I fix this? We only have 91 octane in NM. Should I try some octane booster to see if that helps?

By the way...if I have a CEL and I fix the problem...would the CEL go off by itself or would I have to to reset my ECU???

just erase the code with a scanner tool, see if it comes back. You must use this tool to clear the CEL

well, just an FYI, don't waste any money on any kind of octance boosters. if you do, someone should slap you. octane boosters will turn your 91 octance gas into 91.05 octane gas. (just a rough number) it's a waste... but if you insist that you're still gonna se some kind of octane boost, go to a local chemical store, of some sort, and buy yourself a few gallons of toulene... (spelling?) there's your octane booster right there.

so a little search on the forums and you'll get all the answers you'll ever need... well, some answers anyways.

as for the CEL, i had a CEL the other day when i reset my S-AFC. it stayed lit for 30 minutes, and after i turned off the engine and was about to reset the battery, i rechecked it just to find out it reset itself... so, if your problems aren't solved, disconnecting the negative cable on the battery isn't gonna hurt anyone at all.

just my .02!

yeah, you'll need to do some tuning and get the CEL cleared with one of the scanner tools... it's almost guarenteed having to do with being too agressivly tuned for the 91 octane gas... also: what boost are you running?

I don't think you need a tool to clear the CEL. I got an overboost code when my uicp blew off and after removing neg cable from batt it came off.

From what you wrote, it doesn't sound like you have knock, it sounds like you have a knock sensor wiring problem, maybe related to your SAFC2 install.

Like others said, clear the code and see if it returns. If so, check your wiring.

from what I understand, safc isn't that great at adding fuel?

great at taking away fuel, but suck at adding fuel...

that's what I heard. You shouldn't really knock... your ecu should pull timing and add more fuel automatically if it sees a knock....

well...for starters...i didn't solder my connections and they're pulling because of them being a little short. The previous owner had something (probably a SAFC) installed and then removed it, so I'm using the same wires on the ecu obviously..

I'll start by rewiring the unit. What will happen if I disconnect the knock sensor wire?
