Question for the gearheads: drivetrain-related . . .
Hey guys. I need some clarification. There's a little debate going on (on a different car forum) about the drivetrain config of the current Evo.
Here's what the manufacturer's website reads:
Regarding the front diff: Is it a torque-biasing or a limited-slip type? It can't be both. If there are helical gears and it's torque-biasing (as the site reads), then there's nothing to "slip."
However, the rear diff indicates that it is a 1.5-way setup. Is this a viscous or clutch-pack style diff?
Thanks for any info.

Yes, Cusco sells differential upgrades for the Evo. If you thought multi-plate clutches were expensive, "you ain't seen nothin yet!" I believe Kaaz also sells diff upgrades but I'm not positive.

I thought pretty much any front diff from evo4-8 would basically interchange. The T-cases might be a little different but the actual diff could be swapped. ie: a helical RS diff from a 7 would fit a US 2003 8 or any of the ralliart cluth front diffs as well.
