try using pb blaster. you can get it at wal-mart in the auto section. it has a yellow cap, is white with black lettering. it is like wd-40 but way better. just spray it on, let it sit, and try it again. i have gotten many hard to break nuts and bolts out with that stuff. hope this helps.

Paintball the mechanic. I hate to say it but... vicegrips. Use two pair; one to put load turning what's left of the nut, and one to turn the rod the same direction. By trying to turn the rod at the same time, it will help turn the nut. Obviously you will need a new nut anyway, and if you don't like how chewed up the rod gets, replace that too.

ACTman,
what do you think that I went through 2 sets of ACT clutch and experienced the shifting problem at high RPMs? I did do the adjustment but it only temporary improved the situation (I said improved because I still have to "muscle" it it). I just want some opinions to share with fellow members who may have problem at the drag.

Sorry for the confusing. I mean "muscle" the gear in when shifting, not the nut when adjusting the clutch.

From the feedback I have had, usually the problem is remedied when a small adjustment is made. On some cars there may be issues that cause more of a shifting problem. There are a variety of contributors to the shifting issues on any car. I have seen everything from crankshaft flex, release bearing not installed correctly, syncro problems, warped aluminum flywheel inserts, increased torsional vibration (many causes), and a few other problems, so I don't have a simple answer. I have to take look at each one seperately.

Drop me an email and we can discuss it further.
