Speed Limiter

Hi, I recently bought an EVO III and am very happy with it. I went out and tested for top speed and found out I have a speed limiter set at 180 km/hr. SO as soon as I hit 180, it kicks back. Is there a way to disable this without getting a chip? Thanks.

I think 180km is like 115mph... Not sure.. But I do think you'll need a chip to get rid of the limiters...

I found something

Nah, I don't need a chip, but I will get one at some point. I found something that I can use though. A Speed Cutter Defensor. I never heard of it before but it seems that it makes the car think its not going as fast as it really is so I can get past 180. SO hopefully it works, only about 70 bucks so I can deal with that. And yeah, 180 km is about 115 miles. it's 1.6 km to the mile.

I'm not sure about Evo's but for the Supra all you had to do was remove the Trac fuse. Most of us didn't use the traction control system anyway as it prevented any sort of wheel spin and killed your launch. By removing this you also removed the speed limiter. Hopefully they thought of this with the evo as it too is intended to be a full blown race car.

I didn't know that Supra's came with a speed limiter??!! And a Speed Cutter Defenser?? Never heard of that either.. They can make all kinds of stuff I guess... But I wouldn't spend money on that, when you can just get a chip that eliminates all limiters, like speed, rev, boost, etc... Don't do the same thing over and over, just do it right the first time through... That's just my opinion...

Yeah, i know a chip would be good, but I don't have money for that right now and I am working on other things for the car first. The SLD (Speed limiter defensor) was pretty cheap..about 80 bucks anyway and thats all I need right now. Thanks
