E-01 EBC Tuning Questions

I have been struggling with EBC's and I need some help. I used to have a cheap, simple MBC. It held boost pretty solid, though I definitely saw less boost in lower gears and warmer weather.

Recently, I upgraded to a Profec B Spec II. It seemed okay.. not as good as I was hoping for. Maybe my expectations were just too high. I mean, I could dial it in to get my target boost (about 19.5psi), but I was very annoyed that I'd see the boost jump up/down about +-1 psi (so it'd actually be boosting in a range of about 18-20psi, never 100% solid and stable like my MBC). It seems like this would be a Gain setting issue, but nothing seemed to help (lowering it down to 0 was best.. raising it above 15 or so seemed to make it worse). My settings were usually: Set: 58%, Gain: 6%, Start Boost: 16.5psi. I also was surprised how inconsistent things were. With cold MI mornings, I'd have to dial down, then dial up in the afternoon. Worse, when the car was fairly cool (the first ~10 minutes of driving) I'd get a lot more boost then after an hour long commute. So I was always adjusting stuff. I started every drive in "Lo", then switched to "Hi" as things warmed up over an hour. Frustrated, I upgraded to an E-01 last week.

The E-01's a neat little toy with a lot of very cool features, but I'm still having problems with basic boost control. Can anyone get the 'Auto' function to learn/work at all? During the learning process, mine boosts to ~12psi (base boost), holds it, then starts fluctuating madly (10psi-20psi.. up down up down). I haven't successfully learned an Auto setting yet.
If I switch to manual mode, I usually get the same minor bouncing final boost I had with the B Spec II. The best results seem to be by dropping the Gain down to 0. So my settings as of an hour ago: Set: 66%, Gain: 0, Start Boost 16.5psi. This seemed to keep things solidly at 20-20.5psi with only a little tiny bit of bouncing. As a last ditch effort, I tried swapping out the solenoid tonight also.. no change. I'm close to giving up and switching back to an MBC.

My Setup:
I have the COM port running to the wastegate nipple. The NO port is running to the turbo pressure outlet nipple. The other port (NC) is open (no plug). My boost feedback is coming from between the fuel regulator and the intake manifold, as per the instructions. I also have an Autometer boost gauge teed off the same line under the IP -- this is where I can see the boost bouncing (sometimes I can hear it too). I wonder if people that are happy with EBC's don't have an analog gauge to see how poorly they're actually controlling? From a digital display, it's not as obvious how much things bounce around.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks again,

Rob

So I'm the only one having problems with these things?

Today, I tried capping off the turbo outlet pressure feed and instead running from a T in the line to the blow off valve. If anything, the boost stability seemed a bit worse.
