Just got my AMS exhaust put on
I have the AMS catback exhaust and when they finally came out with a high flow cat they decided to make it specific to thier downpipe only. This left a lot of original customers out in the cold. I had to go to Buschur to get a high flow cat and the help need to make it fit with thier exhuast. AMS basically told me, sorry can't help you.
Now I am stuck with a rattle because their cat back flange happens to line right up with the driveshaft mount so it hits.
Unless you are going all AMS for your exhuast from the turbo back you need to be wary of thier 3 bolt flanges and the senseless adapter piece required at the back of the cat to reack the rest of the exhaust.

The factory flanges are too small and if we built anything to mate up to them, you might as well make the entire exhaust as small as the bottleneck. Every single aftermarket exhaust made that utilizes the full potential of larger flanges is going to be set up differently and is not going to be compatable with other brands pieces. I'm sorry but we can't cater our stuff to be compatable with every other product out there, especially when everyone makes their stuff just a little different.
This is nothing new, I deal with imcompatable exhaust pieces every single day. Evo's are cake compared to 1g/2g's, nothing is uniform on the older cars.

My point was, most of the downpipes on the market are two bolt flanged. Your downpipe is one of the only ones that is proprietary and won't match up to any other. At the very least AMS could have offered to put a two bolt flange on the front of one of your cats so at least I could bolt it up to the cat back exhaust. Back when the exhaust came out there was no high flow cat. At that time we were told that the cat would be compatible when it did come out. That apparently changed and everyone with with a two bolt downpipe was left out in the cold.

We angled it slightly to the corner and slighty up. We did it to try to please both crowds as much as possible, the conservative straight out and horizontal crowd, and the HKS style cocked and tilted crowd.
