I had it, its a problem with a lot of the first year evos. Take it to the dealership and they'll fix it for free. There is a TSB out on it.

It is a known problem. The dealership should fix it under warranty. Mine did.

Interesting. Do they replace the synchro? I have a 5th gear grind on fast shift, but only at high rpm, which means I'm going about ~115 and trying to speed shift to fifth, lol.

Not sure I want the dealer touching my tranny, heh, unless it really gets worse...

I have an 05 grinding in 5th. The dealership was being a douche, so I live with it.

It is a pretty common problem. It is crappy syncros causing the problem. In my case the previous owner had the TC and all the syncros replaced and I still get a slight grind if I power shift into 5th with the car tached up real high. Plus I have ran into other people that get it "fixed" and it comes back worse after the fix. My advice is if you can live it your most likely better off.
