when the tc totaly goes in an evo does it sound like a loud bang and you more or less stop moving? can the failure of the front diff cause damage also to the trans or clutch?

 

That sounds more like engine trouble... Most people say the TC will start "whining"...

 

it really just sounds miserable.. my buddies 01 a4 1.8t has a blown turbo (overboosting with the mbc) and it sounds like a piece of garbage. it makes me laugh though since i can smoke him with my lancer now.

 

Was this on a launch? If it was I would say, yep! When I used to blow TC's in my DSM's they were never ongoing lingering failures. It was 6K on a stutterbox and bam...I'm not moving anymore.

It get's old I'll tell you that much.

 

no wasnt a launch..car just got back together with new trans exedy trip and new tc..put 100 miles on it heard a few noises but no howling..5 miles from home today felt like the car lost power then was normal again so i turned around..2miles from home the grinding started and then just BANG..the car wont even barely move in neutral when it does you can hear grinding..whats left in the tc must be a twisted metal mess..nice huh

 

Now that you add the "grinding" detail, it sounds like it could be...

 

its the tc..gonna swap in another i ahve here will post some pics of the gory details inside the ttransfer case so you can see the damage..the tc will be alot easier to change then the trans is the only good thing
