Problems after clutch install...need help!

Had the mitsu guys install my ACT last week. These guys have done work on my buddies tranny, so i went with them. They also do the labor cheaply because so many people ***** about their clutch.

Anyway, when i got the car back from them, the gears felt like they were in different spots(like, the stick didn't move the same way). There is a much shorter throw to go into the top gears(1,3,5) than their used to be. And when its in neutral, the stick rests almost as far left as it will go(used to have to push it over to the left to get into first, now i just push it up).

Kinda hard to explain, hope i did it good enough.

But, those problems didn't seem major to me...but twice in the last 2 days, the car has popped out of 1st gear if i slowly let the clutch out to take off....i dunno what the problem might be, but im hoping someone has had a similar one.

I don't wanna have to take the car back!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Only help I can provide is that I had an ACT HDSS installed 3-4 weeks ago, and it was immediately perfect in engagement and shifter location when I picked it up. The clutch engages in the middle of the pedal movement, and my shifter is perfectly centered. Each shift 1-6 is perfectly smooth with no change whatsoever, so I think that is what you should expect. I had mine done at a reputable Mitsu dealer in the local area, since I was concerned about having a speedshop not knowing how to bleed the ACD, but you don't have to worry about that.

THere will be some chatter with the ACT when it's new. I had mine installed 3 weeks ago by RRE. Pedal was stiffer, but engagement was in the same place. I have no idea what's wrong, other than something must be off because mine is fine (although Warrtalon and I have 6 speeds).

Dyno4mance installed my ACT with great results. The only difference was a much stiffer pedal. It sounds like there is definitely something wrong, especially if you're getting a whining noise. I wouldn't mess around and take it back to them asap. Good luck man!

i also would say to check everything where the cables connect onto the tranny. I bent a bracket on mine during the install that the bushings rest on, and had to bend the brackets back in shape to get it to feel normal again. Id check that.

Here is your problem. I encountred the same thing with my install. Take your battery out and look at the shifting cables on the tranny. On the upper cable there should be a white half circle spacre that has 2 little hole in it. This came out or shifted out of place. Put it back in its spot (sits on the lower portion of the cable) and you will be fine.

so, your stick was in the wrong spot too? I looked at the cables, but without looking at another EVO i don't know what they are supposed to look like. I can't remember exactly what they looked like before!

i know, when looking at the linkage when shifting into the top gears(1,3,5) the linkage moves one way, shifting to 2,4 it moves the other. But im not sure what the clips and things are supposed to look like being the only thing i can go by at the moment is mine
