Coolant question

I've owned my EVO for about two years now, and I regularly check everything under the hood. Over the past two years I've watched the coolant level in the overflow tank slowly drop. It has dropped about 1 inch in the past two years. I only check the level when the car is at operating temp. Is this a problem, or does coolant slowly burn off or evaporate?

Dont feel bad... mine loses about an inch every 2 weeks or so. I drive it hard and the headers get pretty close to the overflow tank and make the underhood temps insanely hot. I guess running EGT's around 820-930 degrees celsius doesnt help the heat any either.
