Is 1.59 bar (23psi) safe on my car...

I turned up my boost controller and im gettin peak boost at 1.59 bar and it tapers down to about 19 at redline. Is this safe for my car with the mods i have? (they are listed in the sig) Im running 94 octane sunoco fuel. Any input would be helpful. Thankyou

OH MY GOD NO!

...jk...hehe its fine. 23 is perfectly safe, just make sure you run good gas otherwise in higher gears you may hit boost cut every now and again.

My XEDE tune runs around 23 or so, and that's on 91. Make sure you're tuned and take a look at your AFRs.

You may want to look into getting some head studs too. Wouldnt want to push a head gasket!

it's not just AFR's you have to look out for, it's your EGT's too. A fourth gear pull can put you over 900c which is bad. higher octane is highly recommended.

I have read about alot of people runnin that much boost on stock turbo with 93 octane. I dont have an af gauge or a afc or anthing to keep my eye on the af ratios. My car just had a dyno flash for the mods and to run at 20psi but it was only running at 19 psi and dropping down so i turned it up. Im hoping it should be fine with 94 octane which is the only fuel i use. Maybe ill get some headstuds just to be safe, but i havent heard of any failure with the stock ones at this boost level.

I don't know about you guys, but i'd rather blow my headgasket rather than blowing up a piston or bending a rod.

Iv already talked to my very trusted tuner about adding head studs.. he said definately do not do it... Its just like upgrading the clutch on the evo. Your are not directing added force onto other parts.. run head studs and detonate.. you wont blow your head gasket.. you will blow your pistons! They would have put head studs on stock if the car needed them.

What Zeus said. It is possible to lift the head without blowing a piston...right Zeus?

Mine had boost cut when i hit 23psi's on my 03. Are you sure yours is not doing it? It did it a lot in cold less than 40 degree climate and a little in 4th gear in warm climate.

Need some elaboration on this one. It's pretty common knowledge that sealing the head on more firmly, whether it be better clamping from ARP head studs or o-ringing the block/head will keep the head gasket in place but increase the risk of a blown piston if you get detonation. .
