yes that BAGGIE THING is the fuel filter for the pump. using xylene or toluene wont affect the filter. think about it. race fuel has many other additives in it making the octane higher. it has more concentrated chemical compounds to make the RON/r+m2 number different. that is another topic. just the extreme heat caused by the exhaust makes the housing turn that color.

another topic about additives to your fuel. i dont believe that just by adding an octane booster, as in mdzuricky77 case, is going to do detrimental damage to your engine. yes these additives will turn your filters colors -have you pulled your plugs and looked at them?? i will bet that they are discolored also from running octane boosters. they usually turn to a slight reddish color and not the normal brown color. octane boosters wont do you much good as mdzuricky77 stated, they need to be in a larger quantity to solidify a "performance enhancement" for our turbo cars. if you use xylene or toluene, you can run higher boost while reducing the risk of knock-not eliminating it completely. do a search for the toluene topic as you may find some interesting facts about it....

Spark plugs have the same white on them as the turbo hotside. pics below. I don't see any red though.

I did use xylene in large amounts, about a gallon of xylene for every full tank of premium gas. Plus a little Mystery Oil additive (fuel lubricant/detergent), probably a couple tablespoons worth.

So i guess its just the xylene that caused the white color.

ok, that means you're running very lean.

what do you have as mod? and are you tuned?

i don't think xylene could cause that color on spark plugs.

you might need a fuel pump.

That exact thing happened to me before.

http://*********************/forums/showthread.php?t=228 for cheap fuel pump.

you do need to change the spark plugs, run couple of wot runs, then take your plugs out to see if it still does it.

If it still does, that means most likely your fuel pump isn't working properly or you're running lean, aroudn 12.3 aft range for that slightly brown tint white on the spark plug tip.

I installed some NGK plugs about 1000 miles ago, I'll go check them out and see what they look like. The plugs in the pics above were the stockers after 17k miles.

well, your timing line is right, color is right.

i guess it's the xylene... unless you did some tuning before you change the plugs.

I don't see the additive could cause that though.
