Help with HFC

Hopefully someone can help me out with this one. I just installed a Works high flow cat on Friday between my HKS downpipe and HKS 30th anniv. catback. Great product and good gains. And no CEL! One thing that is bothering me is this sweet burning smell that comes from under the car after driving it hard. I put lots of gasket sealant and good gaskets on the flanges, plus I torqued everything to the specs the manual says. I highly doubt this can be an exhaust leak. Exhaust smells nothing like this; I know because my downpipe was leaking and that smell is very different. Now what is causing this "sweet smell" that's coming from under the car? Is it the gaskets and dressings burning up? Or is it just the cat breaking in? Or did I do something wrong? It's only been driven for about four 25-min trips since installling the HFC so I'm hoping it will go away. What do you guys think?

I smelled the same smell after I first put my dp, test pipe, and cat-back on both my evo and eclipse. It went away after a while, I think its just a "break in" smell from the exhaust gasses burning the gaskets, anti-sieze, etc.....

just my .02c; I could be wrong

thanks man, i appreciate your response. I thought that's what it might be. I did put a $hit load of gasket sealant $hit on the flanges, lol.

sounds like you are leaking some coolant from somewhere. look around in your engine bay after you drive the car. good luck.

Just drive around some more to burn off all that gasket sealant burns off.

If there is a sweet smell coming from under the hood, check for coolant leaks. Just monitor your coolant levels to make sure you're not losing any.
