Fidanza Cam Gear bolt size?
Fidanza Cam Gear bolt size?
Does anyone know the bolt size (those 5 bolts that lock the gear) of the Fidanza cam gears? One of mine snapped... yeah, I overtighten them.
Did it happan to anyone else? How do I replace it? Do I have to take off the valve cover to get access to the over size of the cam gear from the top?

i was afraid of snapping one too. sorry to hear man, does it look like you have to take the whole gear off for you to get the threading out?
what did you torque them with?
i hear people recommend using loctite red on those bolts

I torqued them with my Craftman torqued wrend before install. But then I've been trying different cam settings for so many times, so that contributed to the premature wear. And I didn't really used torque wrench for coupld of them as it is very hard to reach with a torque wrench after installed. I tried to contact Vivid Racing for help and they tried to help me contacting Fidanza; however, Fidanza's office is already closed for teh day.
But Vivid Racing really does an excellent job to support their customers!
DON'T use locktite red!!!!!!!!! It is for permanent! If you want to use locktite, blue is what you want to use. I guess I will try to do that starting now and torque a little less than what I usually do.
To replace the bolt, it may be very troublesome. But I am guessing that I can reach it by removing the valve cover, and turn the crank until I see the broken bolt rotated to the top. I am not sure yet, but it is what I plan to do.... bummer!!!!
