here is what happened-
got in my car friday to take it to get a 3" HFC installed/welded up. i left my home and drove toward my work which is about 6 miles away. i look down and notice that im low on fuel. no worries yet the light has not illuminated. okay, so i stop off at a friends house and pick up some parts that he powdercoated for me and i never shut the car off. just let it idle...i hop back in after about 4-5 minutes and take off. my BOV is working-i can hear it blowing off-so im just driving along. i notice the fuel light comes on, so i head towards a fuel station. there is a great sweeping turn going to the station. i try and take it hot and it boosts up and then just dies. no more boost. then it starts to make this whining noise-not like a hose is loose but almost like a whizzing issue. my timing seems to be okay, but i still get no boost. the car will free rev just fine, idle fine, doesnt sound like its missing, and i cant figure it out.
the only thing i can think of is that the fuel pump went dry for a split second and now it has air in the line somewheres. i limped the car home and disconnected the battery and allowed it to sit for a few minutes to see if it would reset the ECU. no luck, still there. okay, so i disconnect the wastegate actuator, same thing, not boost noise still there. hmmm, okay so i try disconnecting the boost solenoid. SES light comes on with the boost control solenoid code. still no boost, noise still there.
again it happens only when i try to get into boost.
found my problem. i checked the compression earlier and it was even all the way across so i decided to take the hotside apart to check the turbo itself. welp, i took all of the intake ducting off instead and grabbed the center of the turbo....... low and behold it moved from side to side about 1/16th of an inch or so. not good. i looked a little closer and seen that it was touching the inlet side also. not good. so i decided that i might as well just take apart the hotside also. took it apart and checked that side. the turbine was hitting the exhaust side causing the whizzing sound i stated from earlier. i can send you pics and a small video if you like so that i may show you what happened. never thought this would happen to me too...anyways, time to look for another turbo or getting this one rebuilt.
what do you suggest?? i was looking at the white rabbit or the TME. the WR just seems a little much for what it is. if it were under the $1k mark it would be a good price, but since the TME is alot cheaper and may perform the same why not get the TME?? i dont plan on going to a AEM EMS just want to stay with the factory ECU for now as the CHP like to tow cars...in my sig you can see my mods as of now. let me know what you think. if you know anyone with a WR, TME, or stock that is selling for a reasonable price, let me know.
oh and for warranty, uhhh yeahhhhh.....rriiiiigghhtttt

i was looking at the 20g, but i dont think WORKS has a flash for that one yet. i have the WORKS cams and such so i would like to stay with them. i have emailed Jamie to see what options i have as far as an updated flash would be, so until then my bat friends-stay tuned...

KTT-i dont think it was a fuel issue per se, because when i went to fill up i was watching to see how much fuel it took before it shut off. it took 11.5 gallons exactly. i dont think i was too dry in the tank to render it a lean condition. so it would be safe to say that it was a bad part. who knows....its a mitsu...
