What is this?

I changed the underhood bushings in my car last night and came across this after I was done putting everything back together. Can someone tell me what this is?
Thanks.

man I went out there and looked and Im not to sure where it came from. The only thing I can think of is it came off of the tranny where the shaft goes into it. If you are standing in front of car it will be to the left of where the buschings are and up closer to the top. Its just a rubber plug. I went out there and was looking at mine and it came right off. I bet thats where it goes.

That's what I was afraid of. I hate finding extra stuff after you finish a project. Is it going to hurt the car or tranny by not being on?

If you're wondering the same thing, then how about a BUMP.

Without that in place you have a hole where dirt and crap can get down into the tranny.

Ah hell. I was afraid of that. Would I be better off reinstalling it from underneath the car by putting it up on a lift or just going in from the top? The reason I ask is because I really don't want to take a bunch of stuff out just to get down the tranny.

Can someone tell me where exactly that piece goes? I don't remember seeing it when i was working on the bushings. I just found it after I was done putting everything back together (as is usually the case).

I managed to get that bad boy back in tonight. It was easy. I only had to take the battery off to get to it and it plugged right in. Thanks.
