Post AMS 3071 kit finally tuned ... link to info

For those interested, I've posted dyno charts showing the effects of cam timing testing, afr adjustment, and boost adjustments in my Evo work-in-progress thread. Lots of info, go take a look.

Final numbers came in at 376whp/319tq on a 93 Octane tune.

A built motor and "only " 380whp. That motor is going to last a LONGGGGGGG time . Congrats on the numbers.

Call it an insurance policy for road racing ... although I wonder how long it will last once I get the ECU to let me rev it to 9K, which is the ultimate goal.

Mod list:

- Vishnu Signature Series exhaust (3")
- Vishnu HF cat (cat and test pipe converted to full v-band flanges)
- AMS GT3071 turbo kit
- AMS built 2.0 liter (ross pistons, crower rods, built valvetrain)
- AMS FMIC
- K&N intake
- HKS 280 cams
- Vishnu Camgears set to -2 intake / 0 exhaust
- Greddy Type-S BOV
- Vishnu XEDE piggyback
- XEDEflashed ECU
- Innovate LM-1
- Rotorpro rotors/Hawk HPS pads/SS brake lines
- Mitsubishi brake ducts
- Custom brake ducting
- SS clutch line ... STOCK CLUTCH (yes, it's the one the car came with, 32k on the clock)

Also, the goal was not to build a dyno queen or a drag racer ... this setup was built for road racing/street driving and as such it needs to have a conservative tune ... though 376 on pump with a cat ain't too shabby, IMO.

Suspension tuning is next.

Whats the boost at, also you should have no problem revving healthy to 9k with that mod list.

Luda, Congrats on those numbers, you owe me a ride. The 272's are working great. I cant believe the difference they made.

I like your cam timing test.I wonder if the results are apllicable for other cam profiles like 264 or 272's.

No it is not. Figure at least another 10 to 15 whp w/out Cat.

According to this link https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...13#post2287213 yours was on meth? Not fair to compare IMO.

No they are not, nor would the testing be applicable for non-HKS 280 duration cams. I used to have HKS 272s installed and ran them at -4/-1 and was very happy with that setup.

Sure, anytime you feel like hooking up on a weekend, let me know. Glad you like the 272s, it is amazing how much of a difference they make when you upgrade from the stock cams.

The tune was done by Martin at AMS ... again many thanks go out to their patience in getting this all to work. Boost is currently set to ~22psi, tapering to 21psi by redline. In pouring over my dyno runs, I have some thoughts on how I might retune, but for now I'm very happy with the setup. I am having some issues with minor compressor surge, which I'm very sure is related to my Greddy Type-S. I will be ugrading to a Greddy Type-RS (40mm instead of 37mm on the S) shortly to see if that helps.

Was this the same dyno as your baseline dyno run which was like 197? If so, you picked up almost 180 whp over stock....thats pretty darn good for pump gas, considering you have a cat on.

All of my dyno runs were on a dynojet of one type of another. However the baseline was performed in Denver, so it is probably a good 15-20whp lower than it would have been in Chicago.

At some point in time, I might go back to the same dyno that my most recent runs were performed at (Porsche Exchange with Vishnu stage 1+) to get a better comparison.

You'd probably dyno at about 310 hp at Porsche Exchange !

Seriously, it's great to see your car is finally sorted out.

Quick question: why does it look like you power stalls out from 5000 to 5500 rpm?

Heh! No joke on the Porsche Exchange dyno ... that thing reads lowww.

The power valley at 5K is only evident in the 3rd gear pulls, 4th gear pull is much smoother. I asked Martin about that and he says it's due to the car putting down more torque in 3rd gear and loading up the dyno more as it spools up. I can post a 3rd gear vs 4th gear chart if you want to see the difference.
