more tranny install woes...any advice?
Well...I just spent over 2.5 hours mauling (and being mauled by) my transmission and now it is back to sitting beside the car :-/
Long story short: The couple of times I got anywhere near close, these rings popped out of the pressure plate (ACT). Do these just snap back in...the two springy washer type things behind the main ring? I am bothered that they popped out...I certainly do not want the TOB to yank them out the first time I try to release the clutch :-(
They popped back in and now the main ring feels springy...almost like a button...you can push it in a 1/4 inch or so then it moves back out....I don't recall that before :-(

Thanks for any advice!

i popped them off twice while installing my act last week. you have to be very careful when sliding the tranny in. you especially don't wanna knock off the ring on the back of the pressure plate or the tob won't grab and you'll have to pull everything back apart.
after looking at the picture the ring that i'm talking about is attached to the other ring in your hand. although you can reinstall them with the pressure plate on the car i found it easier to take the pressure plate off and reinstall the rings and springs. if you have any questions pm me and i'll give you my phone number to call and i'll try to explain. and yes it's like a button. you just have to make sure that the ring that is attached to the ring with the fingers ends up on the back of the pressure plate (very important).

I just finished driving around the block so...I think I got it right <grin>
I ended up using my engine hoist and some heavy straps to suspend the transmission from above and it went right on in less than an hour no sweat.
Thanks all :-)
