exedy carbon slipping?

okay so heres the thing,
I have a 2003 evo 8 with 37k miles on the car and about 5k on the new exedy single disk hyper carbon clutch. Back in the day when it was new it used to slip slightly at WOT and then it was all good. NOW it slips during normal driving which is not good at all and Im affraid to warm it up because it feels a lot more fragile now than it was before. During normal driving I mean that my foot on the gas is only about 25% or less. IT never used to slip like this. Only during WOT and my car is still STOCK!!! what the hell? can anyone ellaborate more on this? Is my clutch disk or chromolly flywheel glazed over???

If your reading this matt, is it possible for the flywheel or carbon disk to glaze over? I just need to comfirm because thats what I feel it must be. If its not then I will try heating it up more then.

okie dokie, its official............my exedy hyper single carbon clutch has DIED born at 31,800 miles on 4/13/05 died at 36,950 miles on 8/31/05 . Im pretty sure that's 5,150 miles on that clutch and I drove my car on a daily basis with hardly any maltreatment or misabuse. lets see that's approx. four months and 17 days. I believe I should have a warranty claim issue here. I mean its pretty close. The warranty states 3 months or 6000 miles. This is dAM close if you ask me and I should get a possitive claim out of this!

needs to be slipped so the carbon material heats up. After u heat up the carbon material it should not slip.

You should slip it to warm it up j/k

Did you have a professional shop install the clutch?

Exedy is very meticulous bout their warranties. They have a engineer go over the clutch and inspect it to make sure it was not installed wrong or abused. Call the place you bought it from to get the warranty wheels in motion.

yes ben actually I am trying to get a hold of the owner of the shop but, he is not being very proffesional. I think he's trying to avoid contact or stall. He's never at his freakin shop and when they installed the thing they did not go over any warranty with me or tell me a break in. He just said okay its done that will be 700 bucks for the labor and gave me the keys and I was off. He is basically a dick. He leaves his shop to go to some acting thing or show when he forgets about his customers who got him there and is never freakin there!! as soon as tuesday rolls around I'm gonna stick my foot up his A**!

hi al,
well to tell you the truth there is no modification on the vehicle whatsoever. It's not bone stock there are some brake modifications and the essentials like brake lines and pads but other than that its stock. The shop really isn't being nasty to me its more like the OWNER of the shop who doesn't know how to give correct customer service and not even lecture me on the warranty before or after of the clutch. I had to find out everything for myself. It's called Thirteen Twenty Motorsports of vista , ca right off emerald dr. Yea that dicks name is Goerge.
About my driving habits with the clutch were strictly for street and I wanted a reliable long lasting clutch that would be able to take some slips every blue moon. What I got was a poor installation in my eyes or a defect because that carbon disk is supposed to last longer than 5,150miles.
