What about a smaller intercooler?

Most people go bigger, has anyone actually looked at going smaller? What about going with a spearco 23.5x8x3? Seems like it has nearly the same iternal volume as the stock but should flow/cool better

Do you think people would actually spend $700-$900 on buying a smaller intercooler?, Unless some intercooler manufacturer comes and shows us that they can make more power with less intercooler core people wouldn't buy smaller intercoolers.

Smaller intercooler should improve response.. aka, less lag. I think its safe to say that every Intercooler with a larger internal volume is going to increase turbo lag. Physics in action.

The Spearco should flow better than the stock even hough its a little smaller.

So a smaller, better flowing, more efficient intercooler might be a better match to the stock or TME turbo.

I'm not after the gigantor dynohugic numbers. I'm looking for instant response and trying to make usable powe across a broader RPM range.

The spearco is also not expensive, about $400. Would require some work to make it fit properly.

Has anyone tried doing this? Another option might be to use the BR fluidyne kit and run an IC that has an outlet at the top of the tank and run 2.5" straight to the manifold.

Its not a bad idea, its a different idea. Why just keep hasing out what everybody else is doing or trying? I think there is merit to looking at a smaller more IC with an improved flow rate is something worth looking into. The TME Evo 7 from WRC had an elongated IC that went across the entire bumper opening but was not very tall.

As long as the efficiency is better I don't see why it wouldn't work.

What about a liquid to air setup with a cooler for the fluid? That would probably give the best response because the IC could be very small with very short IC piping and it wouldn't matter how big the cooler for the liquid was (as long as it cooled the liquid effectively) because it has nothing to do with air flow to the enigine.

I know they make them, I was curiuos if anyone was actually running one on the street. I remember seeing one on a drag car. I think it was AMS's car. Anyway it made the IC piping so simple and looked super "clean".
