Judging from the fact that David had the rev limiter set at 10k rpm on the 2l and the fact that the old motor spun a rod bearing, the motor was just seeing too much rpm, it easily handled the power. I also believe that they use the beefy eagle rods on their 2l setups, which is gonna get some CRAZY forces going on at 10k rpm. Lets say you went w/ a 35R which has better spool up, you could set the rev limiter at a nice safe 8500rpm and I bet the motor would last A LOTTTT longer.

Help me out here....how much do we need to pay for a fully blueprinted and balanced Stage3 2.3L shortblock with all the goodies like Crower rods, ARP head studs, JE pistons etc? $4750?

The complete shortblock, assembled with J&E's, Crower rods, balanced, balance shaft kit and painted is $3500, that requires you giving us your old block and main girdle back.

The cylinder head, our Stage 3, valves, springs, titanium retainers, SS o-ring, ported etc. is $1650, this requires your head core too.

Buy a set of head studs from us $110 and a head gasket $95 and I will bolt the two together for no charge and torque everything.

Total long block would be $5355. You would then put your cam, lifters, water pump, front cover oil pan and such on and drop it in the car.

If you choose to have us do it all then add $300 for front cover and new oil pump gears, $145 for t-belt and tensioner. Add another $100 for all the lubricants, $300 for a gasket kit and $1500 labor. $7700 total. That would include putting in a new clutch while we are in there, adding i/c pipes, different intake manifold or throttle body. Anything we have to take off anyways for the job we won't charge extra to change while we are doing the engine for the $1500.

^ I think he means everything, the complete shortblock, cylinder head, plus the headstuds and head gasket.
