There is a tread with someone running a 50 trim with alky making like 499whp and I think 403tq. I will be going with a 50 trim on my 2.3 stroker

I went from 325 whp to 390 whp with an atp 3071(the most conservitave 3071 out there) on 93 octane at 25 psi, same mods. for 2 g's, Do you think it's a waste of money for 65 whp? Sure I could have taken the stock turbo farther, but it cost more money, for more power on the stock turbo. I could have gotten to 350 whp on stock for about $1,000 more(thats 1/2 way towards my turbo kit.) I would rather be at 6 or 7 tenths on a 3071 than 10/10ths on a stocker!
just my 2 cents.

If you call Buschur and get a 20G-9-5 and a stage 3 head, you will be spending the same money as a 3071/3076 kit and have awesome spool up and monster torque in a stock-looking car!

Call Buschur and talk to them about your options.

You may be better served by a TME 6.5 turbo, if your business is really tight and twisty. Then add a set of GSC 264's, and you should be good to go right now. For the parking cone scene...stay away from the bigger and laggier 30 series. Go TME!

1) how much power would both turbos make on 91oct and alky?

2) which is the better turbo or more valuable turbo?

the reason i am asking everyone for their opinions is the fact that after researching the 3076, i found most people do not recommend it and say its a waste. i was wondering if the 3071 can make as much power but spool faster.

So its been quite a while since you last posted. So which way did you end up going? I read this thread very carefully and i say that for your Street only, and pump gas running EVO, the GT3071 would be the best bang for the buck. Especially if you add some HKS 272 cams to go with it. Your spool up would be stock-like with a very decent gain in HP. The 3076 is quite laggey comparatively and does not run well in the modest 22PSI 91octane tune that EVOs run. The 3076 comes alive at boost over 25psi, but 25psi is NOT recommended for 91 octane. So I would agree with the GT3071R with upgraded cams for street tune on pump gas. If you were going for drag racing or running race fuel then HTA3076 would be the way to go, but not in your case...

Very interesting Post...

Given the contraints of:
21-24psi boost
91/92Oct Fuel
5000+ Ft above sealevel

There is actually no doubt in my mind that either a GT3071R or 50Trim is the Turbo for the Job...

A GT3071R on a 2.3L stroker in my mind would be an amazing combination for pump gas and 22psi .

That 3071, especially on a stroker, will choke after 5500 RPM. It won't spool but maybe 500 RPM faster than the 3076. The 3076 will not start choking till high 6,000's on that stroker. I think that's something to take into account.

For such a high alt and crappy 91 gas, you want to run the largest turbo you can tollerate for lag. Why? Because larger turbos don't create as much heat for the charge air temps, and can make up for thin air with more CFM. Also make sure you have at least 272 cams.

I have a BR 3071 cast mani kit. It made 382 whp on the TTP MD dyno with basic bolt on's and FP4 cams.
This is on 93 pump with no meth. My car is driven to work every day and never see's race gas etc...

Would I like more power, sure, but I would not want any more lag. If I upgraded for pump gas the bigest I would go is probably a 50 trim so I don't loose any more bottom end tq.

Because the HTA3065 is quite a bit more expensive than the GT3071R ball bearing turbo. For the same price of the HTA3065 you can get a GT3071R and HKS272 MIVEC cams + injectors and fuel pump. That is why I went with the GT3071R...

Holy thread revival! TWO years! but that's okay, since I have always been interested in 3071 vs. 50trim vs. 3076 on pump/race gas/stroker combos. Greatgonzer, did you ever end up getting the ATP kit? I replied to your post on Camtuning but you never replied.

Oh sorry. I have not checked www.camtuning.com for quite some time and I dont think that I have that site setup to instant email me when someone responds. Actually I have placed my order for the turbo kit, but that was 8 weeks ago and still no turbo kit yet. They told me that they are pretty backordered at the moment... The wait is killing me. And of course Cameron is going to tune the whole thing once installed...

Well, what I said was, that is one of the most hated kits on the market. I guess you are pretty sure it's what you want though...
