FS: HKS BOV with Upper IC and HKS RS

These units are in great condition, I decided to go with the APS Bov/Intake system and XS Interooler kit. I have all the orginal boxes as well, and will try to find the instructions.

$275 for the SSQV with Upper IC
I have recirc kit for it as well, but that doesn't work with the Upper IC. (BOV is too far away from intake) I'll throw it in just the same in case you decide to change the config. I also have the purple fin installed (silver is standard) and will include a SAMCO hose fitting for the connection from the Intercooler. (This is the connection most prone to coming off) I'll send the HKS fitting for this as well and you'll see what I mean immediately. (The HKS connection is way too small and doesn't hold enough of either pipe to maintain a good connection)

$200 for HKS RS (Filter is VERY clean)

I'll break down the reasons to go with this and to not go with this...

For:
#1 for HKS--Loud, very kick *** VTA and Turbo Sound
#2 Holds at least 24lbs of boost (not sure what its max is, but that what it holds on my car)
#3 Bling

Against:
#1 Flutter at low speed operation
#2 Difficult to get tension setting correct on BOV (turn screw on back, no notches or indicators)
#3 Upper IC used to blow off under high boost, (SAMCO reducer took care of this problem)
#4 You will absolutely need the HKS EIDS. I'm leaving mine installed on my car as I think its saved my *** more than once with other issues as well. EIDS is an amazing piece of technology. I didn't realize what it was actually doing until I installed my Wideband. If you are just beginning the mod process, this will keep you from stalling out at every stop light when you have stuff setup wrong. its also vital to have when running VTA.

I'll also help you through the install if you need it.

damn, i just ordered the SSQ version 2.

I wouldve bought it from you because I paid about 100 more than what your offering.

I also ordered the recirculation kit.. it won't work with the upper IC pipe?

I don't want to vent it to atmosphere.

I have an S AFC will that fix the idle? if I do have to vent it.

The SAFC will not fix the idle issue. It's supposed to have a function similar to the HKS EIDS but does not work properly. I started out with the SAFC and this BOV and learned the hard way stalling out. The HKS EIDS will correct the problem as well as actually keep your car running during some fairly crazy problems. (Like Upper IC coming off under boost)

These pics are from a few months ago, I replaced the upper IC coupler hose with a SAMCO reducer and a tbolt clamp.

The version 2 kit, which is shown, cannot be recirc'd. I bought a 3 ft 1" hose and tried it. There is too much delay from when the BOV vents to when it hits the compressor. Result is an "Afersurge" I don't know what else to call it, but it makes your car undriveable.

The recirc kits consists of a coupler that goes in place of the "fin" that allows you to attach a hose. When using an SSQV recirc'd in the stock location it works well.

As I've outlined, this kit #1 attraction is the sound. It is the loudest Blow off sound I have ever heard.

There are significant downsides though which I also outlined. I don't want to sell this to someone and have them feel mislead.

HKS sounds great and looks awesome, but driveability is not where it should be. The flutter at low speeds is very annoying.

If your always wide open throttle then you'll love this kit

PM responded too. Not looking to part out the upper IC from the SSQV. The Evo specific kit is not a universal SSQV. I don't have the piping that would allow someone to connect up to the stock location. I have a recirc kit that gets you half way there, but you'd still have to have a flange on an IC pipe very very close to the stock location for it to work with the Evo specific BOV. If you look at a Universal SSQV, there is fitment that allows the BOV to attach to the stock location. With the Evo specific kit, the Flange is the bottom and there is no location to attach a hose. Its flat and would sit nicely on a table. But thats about all I'd be able to do with it without the upper IC...
