External wastegate on stock turbo????

I have searched the threads and have not seen anyone say if it realy works or not?I have only seen one where they say it makes the turbo laggy. If you do this or a o2 housing with a dump does it make a difference or just sound different?Sorry where im at there is only one shop that can work on an evo and Ive only heard bad about them.So I have to consult you all.

You can do it. Main reason people go with the external route is because they need to control boost. The wastegate allows for pressures up to 30+psi to be attained -which internal gates cant withstand or cant withstand steadily. An added BENEFIT is the drop in backpressure and free-er moving air resulting in increased horsepower. Unless you're pushing more than 24psi it's really not neccessary -but of course if money is itching in your pocket, go for it. What you'd need to do is take the wastegate actuator assembly out, and weld the flapper door on the exhaust housing shut. Get an o2 mounted tiAL (38mm is plenty sufficient for a stock turbo -even with the 10.5 upgrade) and you'll be good.
