Bi Turbo - Twin Turbo
Thats pretty much where i was basing my Bi-Turbo info on, was the s4.

i always thought bi turbo was just a dif way of saying twin turbo... twin turbo uses 2 turbos 1 big 1 small smaller 1 spools up for low end performance while the bigger spools up higher for the top end performance... Howstuffworks.com is better then school! lol

This is not true... Twin turbo can and ususally is the same size (Can't think of one that is not).. Check my post earlier in the thread to see what you are refering too.
Bi-Turbo = Two turbos....They usually consist of 1 smaller turbo and 1 bigger turbo...The smaller one..like some have said spoolers earlier...and the larger one spoolers later...I suspect it is to make for a smoother power band. and elimate as much "turbo lag" as possible.....I was unaware that the s4 had ko3's but there is prob a difference in the turbine size that makes the "smaller" one spool faster.
Twin-Turbo can be defined in 2 different aspects:
Sequential- As mentioned b4.....turbos of identical size...yet....they are connected in the fashion that one turbo....spools b4 another and thus feeds the 2nd turbo...therefore..like the bi-turbo setup...tries to elimated turbo lag...
TTC- Or True Turbo ______ (not sure what the C stands for but i'll check with my brother)....In this mode...From what my brother has gone through with his supra...is changing the way the turbos spool...In this mode the turbos spool at the SAMETIME, instead of like bi-turbo and sequential modes... You might say..y would you want that...wouldn't that be slower? Not necessarily...in this mode the "hit" or peak of the powerband hits a lot harder and has the power more focused for top end rather than low end...

there is no standard. a bi turbo s4 uses two turbos of the same size each powered by half of the v engine.
the twin turbo skyline has one inline six where each turbo of the same size is powered by 3 cylinders
the twin turbo supra has two sequential turbos powered by 3 cylinders each.
bi turbo is commonly used in euro cars. twin turbo is commonly used in japanese cars. it's all nomenclature, they can refer to the same and very different things.

bi turbo and twin turbo are the same exact thing, just 2 different ways of saying it. Some manufacturers call it one thing, others call it another.
there is no science to it, just 2 ways to describe the same exact thing. Only manufacturer i can think of that even uses 'bi' is Audi....
i know the sequentical setup of the FD is called 'twin turbo' as is the parrallel setup of the 300zx.
