Yeah, I understand it's not your field of expertise nor is it your problem so your interest level is minimal. Thanks for the tip none the less.

I got the car on the 19th of August, just to let you know the official date.
Take it to a Mitsu dealer, it's under warranty. Even if the warrranty was previously voided for mods they are not on the car now and the car has an emissions issue which the dealer has to fix by law under the emissions warranty.

Not to mention that if it is not Mitsu looking at the car then they have no idea what the problem is, it is probably a PO300 which they will never fix at some private dealer.

Oh, no I would never take it all the way to Arlington to get it looked at. I took it to Gillman Mitsubishi of Austin (and am going back tomorrow to get my front license plate holder).

Alright, well I'm going to go to Gillman Mitsubishi on Friday and tell him what everyone seems to be telling me as far as it should still be under warranty. Anyone else have any other thoughts before I consider all options covered?

My suggestion is to go to autozone and have the code read. Then figure out what it means. Then go to the dealership and ask them to assess the problem and fix it....under warranty. If they start feeding you bs, you will at least know what the cods is and possibly what could be wrong with the car.

And just so you know, this gillman place sounds shady as ****. Any dealership that would recommend you purchase a USED part to replace something that should be covered under warranty deserves to go out of business.

Alright, so I went to the dealership and they wrote down that the code was "P0171" and wrote something next to it that looks to say "Fuel trim lean." So I go to the codes page, and find "DTC P0171: System too Lean." So now that I found this code, what could be the problem. Let it be known that they said the wires on the ECU looked like they were spliced for a possible piggyback unit.

Edit: Alright, I've come up with this theory. Someone fill me in on how probable it is. My theory is that the previous owner at one point added a Walbro 255 fuel pump (or something similar) and then did a mail-in flash on the ECU. Then, once they were getting ready to sell, they took out the fuel pump (as they did their piggyback unit, etc.), and the ECU is now set to the car running richer because of the fuel pump, so it's giving me an error that it's too lean because of the stock fuel pump. Who knows, maybe I'm crazy, but I think that sounds pretty probable.

You maybe right or maybe the ecu was scale for upgraded injectors from previous owner. The dealer can flash you back to stock. You can also have other flashable tuners flash it back to stock for you to see if it solve the problem. But definitely do not going WOT with this code.

Sorry! I mean wide-open-throtle, the term that mean you're stepping on the gas to go fast or racing. I was same like you too when I heard about it the first time. The reason is you may not have enough fuel for your engine when you do that and it's a bad thing.

They didn't make note of the RPMs.
