Installed wideband and now my SAFC doesn't work?
I just tried to install my LM1 wideband with the LMA2 aux input cable. I have an AFC that I installed using a fields harness, its been on the car for a few months and it works fine.
I wired the LM1 & LMA2 up using the same fields harness the AFC is hooked up to. After I finished splicing all the wires for the LMA2 (RPM, TPS, IAT, Ignition & Knock) my AFC all of a sudden stopped working & my CEL came on. The code was for the MAF sensor, something like incorrect voltage so I figured I must have messed up one of the connections while I was splicing the wires. I disconnected all the new inputs I installed from the LMA2 and reinstalled the harness w/ just the AFC inputs but it still did not work.
As a final measure I pulled the harness off again and checked the ohms on all the connectoins w/ my multimeter, everything checked out OK so I reinstalled it once again but the AFC still doesn't work.
Does anyone have an idea why or how that could have happened?

After resetting the AFC to defaults, ignition cycle, then setting them again with the key on, the AFC kept the settings fine.
I would turn the key to "on", set the AFC "etc"settings again, and it should clear up...

I completely removed the fields harness and the car starts and drives fine now, only thing is I have no AFC and no WB.
It has to be either something with the AFC itself or the harness, but I checked over the whole harness with my multimeter so I don't know why the AFC would just stop working all of a sudden.
Are you using the same power source for both units? I do with no issues, but perhaps the LM is drawing too much current....or causing a voltage drop. Just a guess.
Here's what I would do. See if you can power the AFC up by itself using a good clean power source. If it does, then you know there's an issue at that harness. You might then try using separate switched power sources for the two units...

the AFC was powering up off the fields harness, Pins 12 & 13 (power & ground). Everything worked flawlessly before I tapped the harness for the LM1. I returned the fields harness back to the way it originally was before I spliced the lines but the unit still doesn't power up...

Why don't you tell the rest of the Forum how you did it. I don't have that problem, but since you started with the question, you should end up with an answer. That way when someone else has a similar problem and do a search, they can solve the issue instead of reading your post and coming to the end of it and, nothing but "Oh! yeah never mind I got it".
Thanks for helping your self and helping others.

sorry, I forgot about this thread.
It turned out that some of the terminal connections on my patch harness were bad. Once I fixed them everything worked fine.
Its AMAZING how simple it is to wire up the LM1 & LMA-2... all the information you get in return is great. It is by far the best mod I have done to the EVO so far.
