Boost Question

My boost controler is set at 20psi. When i added intercooler pipes the psi droped about 2psi. I know this is normal because the piping is bigger than the stockers. But if i crank the boost back up to 20psi wouldn't the turbo be working at 22psi? thanks

Well think about this way, right now your car is running 18PSI (from what you said), do you consider it running 20PSI? So why if you turn the boost up to 20PSI would you now all of a sudden figure it's really doing 22PSI? Do you get what I'm saying?

Wait maybe I get what your saying, are you saying you have the boost controller set at 20PSI and boost dropped to 18PSI, therefore meaning you have to set the boost to 22PSI to reach 20PSI again? Do you have an electronic boost controller? A MBC wouldn't really have such a problem.

If the pipes have a larger diameter the volume is increased and the turbo will have to pump more air to keep the same pressure.

wait until you change the intercooler.
When I went to a 24x12x3 tube/fin I had to turn my boost controller down.
I had it set to 20psi before. After installation, it peaked at 26psi.
Another example of the stock intercooler being restrictive (with a stock turbo).

Maybe a 1-2 psi drop. But 18psi is too much. You've got a boost leak. Check your connections.
