Rpm Hang? Help

anyone else have a problem w/rpm hang. it happens always around 3500-4000k. i can let go of the gas and the rpms just stay, then barely taper off. its annoying and makes the car uncomfortable to drive. my only mod is a TBE and a 1G Forge DV. ive reset the ecu thinking that would help but nothing. anyone w/help would be greatly appreciated.

Intertesting, I have the same type of deal but it seems to hang at 2000 or so.

It's an intermittent problem though. I haven't given it a whole lot of thought.

If you have an 05, and the 5k limiter switch is disconnected, the RPMs will hang.

Also, adding to Warrtalon, 05s will hold RPMs for emissions. They hang to "thin" out the exhaust readings.

You've just saved me having to type up a new thread . I traded the '03 for an '05 a few weeks back and the first thing I noticed is that the RPMs would hang when I shift. It's been bugging the hell out of me and I was going to call the dealership later this week to have it looked at. Is there any way round this? Will a reflash get rid of it?

Mine still does it and I've got a flash with the limiter switch connected. It's damn annoying, but life goes on.

Yes, all 05s have the limiter. It's been discussed 1000 times. Do you ever search before asking basic questions?

UFO - thanx, and no I do not know how to kill this, I have been flashed and it still will do it. When the 5K is unplugged it gets worse. So I have mine in. I also have an ACT clutch and the restrictor out, so I believe its in the ECU. Agreed - damn annoying.

Yeah im flashed too and its been doing it all day today for the last week or so i was babying the car because the clutch was what seemed to me "slipping" but now it seems to be fine the clutch, the rpms still do the hanging also if you guys have an 05 the clutch switch plugged in, i used to be able to rev past 5000rpms when in neutral and without the clutch in, but now even if i dont press the clutch i can no longer rev the car past 5000rpms i dont know whats up with that, but like someone said the rpms hanging is annoying as hell

Are you absolutely certain? This should not happen.

The limiter has nothing to do with "hanging RPM" problem. I've been researching this issue for a few months now. I have swapped out my ECU for a bone stock ECU from an RS with no effect. We've gone back to the original throttle body and ECU, no effect. The factory has no answer. If we ever make a break through, I'll post it up for sure.

Well, regardless, it is much worse when the 5k switch is disconnected. I have much personal experience with this from autocrossing, especially when I come into the stop gate at 7k rpm and have to slam the brakes and clutch in at the same time. The RPMs stay up at 7k like nobody's business, but this is only when I disconnect the 5k limiter for launching. If I keep it connected during the run, then it's not half as bad when I hit the stop gate.
