Ok, I'm redirecting this from a thread over in the Future Evo's board that got off subject. I was talking about the first few mods I want to do when I pick up my new EVO IX MR after I get back from Iraq. 1) BFG G-Force KDWS's (Idaho Winters!) 2) Apex'i N1 Ti exhaust 3) AEM or K&N Intake 4) GTech RR Monitor The following was brought up about intakes in Mitsu platfroms:

Quote: Ghost 2-2
PLEASE DON'T GET AN INTAKE! Just stick with a drop-in, I know traditionally intakes work well in all platforms (I'm an ex-domestic driver, trust me I KNOW), but for some odd reason, in the Mitsu platforms, it ain't worth doing unless you're going to get a reflash, etc. SO, just do the exhaust, looking forward to the pics. . .
So I'm reading the latest copy of Dsport magazine that has managed to arrive here in Iraq and I see an article on light tuning an 05 EVO VIII MR: Intake and Exhaust. Their dyno pulls show stock whp at 262.4 on XS Engineerings AWD Dyno. Once the K&N Typhoon intake was installed, whp went up to 271.1 on 3 passes. So with a net gain of 8.7 at the wheel, I would have to say that an intake works well on the 05 MR with no reflash. I can only guess what we would see on the 06 IX MR with MIVEC.

Let me know what your experinace has been with intakes...

THere are much better things to invest your money in then the intake, the stock air box is fine, and I've heard bad things about the K&N typhoon which you mentioned. Just keep the stock air box, its good for plenty of Horsepower. If you search this topic has been beaten to death!
